Psalm 19 provides a beautiful description of God's own self-revelation. In the first part of the Psalm, David describes God's self-revelation through His creation. David then proceeds to describe God's self-revelation through His Word to us in sacred Scripture. The first type of revelation is often referred to as "General Revelation", while the second type is often referred to as "Special" or "Specific Revelation". Because He has indeed revealed Himself to us in His creation, we are without excuse...we cannot say that we had no way to know of Him. However, because He has also graciously provided us with His "Special Revelation" in sacred Scripture, His written Word...and in Jesus Christ, His living Word, we are also not without hope.
